Back from the Abyss

So between work, my own writing projects, my kid, and NaNoWriMo (which I won by the way) I've let this journal gather dust. I'll be going through and updating/adding to my rec lists next month. I need to come out of my cave and catch up with fandom first, of course. I now have 3 fanfiction in progress and all of them are loooooong. Hopefully my STXI fic will be ready to start posting in Feb-March.
I don't know if anyone even lurks at this journal but for anyone who has stopped by and wondered if I will ever update my rec lists, there you are.

random thoughts while procrastinating

I am writing my Star Trek big bang fic on my brand new iPad! I feel like Yeoman Rand (only brunette and without the beehive)!
The only sucky thing is that everything I've written is just . . .ugh. Why is it that for every one of my fandoms I have this insane desire to write time travel fic? I actually thought I could get away with it in Star Trek because, lets face it now, every cliche plot device is already canon. I actually think my plot is pretty good, it's just my first chapter that's the problem. There is a whole lot of Jim Kirk freaking out and not interacting with other people very much. Introspection is not all that fun to write and even less fun to read. At least I've managed to break away from my habit of writing in the present tense.
I'm just having a little bit of an anxiety attack about posting this thing for all of fandom to read, don't mind me.
I'm off to re-write this thing for the fifth time and hope that I'm not still working on the *&^%ing first chapter when October rolls around.

Gearing up for the Big Bang

I'm signing up for the Star Trek Big Bang this year! I am pumped! I've got a great idea, already outlined (K/S of course). The only problem? If I follow my current outline my fic will end up somewhere between 40k-60k words. It'll be like NaNoWriMo all over again, especially since I take a looooong time to write and then rewrite fic. Here's to hoping it'll turn out as awesome as I think it will.

WIP_Amnesty fic: Harry Potter and the Search for the Red King

Title: Harry Potter and the Search for the Red King
Fandom: Harry Potter and Kirith Kirin crossover.
Pairing: This would have ended up HP/SS, but it's pretty much gen for all intents and purposes.
Notes: This is a Harry Potter/Kirith Kirin crossover. Yeah, you heard that right. Yet another post for wip_amnesty. This one I may actually finish someday. With all the other fic I have on my plate, however, it won't be any time soon. Also, for anyone who cares, this takes place after OOTP and goes wildly, wildly AU.

Fic rec

I haven't really been interested in reading Terminator: SCC fanfiction, which is unusual for me when you consider what a cliffhanger we were left with when the series went off the air. This series of fics is so wonderfully written, however, that it must be reced. I love the way John is written here, just as he was when the series left off, transforming from the terrified teenager into the leader of the resistance.

(Scroll down to get to the first fic.)

On the fic writing front I have a multichaptered Star Trek XI fic in the works that should be ready for posting around christmas. It would be done sooner, but I'm doing nanowrimo again this year.
